This apparatus is a four or five strand chain which employs a width adjustable hold and release mechanism, designed to hold back all timber allowing only the first piece to be  released to the infeed conveyor.  The profile of the feeder together with the infeed guide are responsible for turning the  timber on edge ready for grading.
